Seers host ‘Roza Iftar party

A lot has been written about politically motivated Iftar parties. I, too, don’t like such parties. However, I was terribly impressed by an Iftar party that was held in a temple in “Ayodhya” by the seers of that temple to offer Iftar to Muslim brethren . I had composed this poem a few years earlier but like to repeat it every year in the holy month of Ramadan. Your views on the poem are most welcome.

Jawaid Badauni

Seers host ‘Roza Iftar party’ Seers of this temple town on Saturday hosted a ‘Roza Iftar party’ for their Muslim brethren at the famous Hanumangarhi Temple in a rare gesture of communal amity.

A large number of Muslims from the twin towns of Faizabad and Ayodhya attended the function, in which Mahant Gyan Das of the Hanumangarhi temple and other saints and sadhus were present. Scarfs, with ‘Ram-Rahim’ inscribed on them, were distributed after the function as a gesture of Hindu-Muslim unity and brotherhood.

NAZM:

“Mulla” ne roza khola hai “Sadhu” ke haath se”

Tareekhh se kaho keh bhula de na iss ko kal
“Sadhu” pila raha hai “Namazi” ko “Ganagajal”

Iftariyo(n) ko dekh ke har shakhs dung hai

Imam Ja’far ibne Muhammad as-Sadiq (peace be upon him) has said that: “Reciting the Qur’an from the pages of the Qur’an (meaning to look at it and recite it – not from memory) lightens the punishment of one’s mother and father, even if they are both disbelievers.”Usulul Kafi, Volume 2, Page 613

“Together We Grow.”…. Together we can build.

O’ my son! Beware of five (groups)

Imam Sadiq [a] has narrated from his father Imam Muhammad Baqir [a] who said his father Ali ibn Husayn [a] stated: “O’ my son! Beware of five (groups) and do not seek companionship with them, do not speak with them, and do not make friends with them on (the) way.”

Then, Imam Baqir [a] asked his father who they were and might he introduce them to him. He responded:

“Beware of and do not associate with the one who tells lies. He is as a mirage which makes near for you what is far, and makes far to you what is near.”

“Beware of and do not associate with an immoral person, because he will sell you at the price of a morsel or less than that.”

“Beware of and do not associate with a miser because he will deprive you of his wealth when you are seriously in need of it.”

“Beware of and do not associate with a fool, because he wants to be of avail to you but he harms you.”

“Beware of and do not associate with the one who disregards his kinfolks, because I found him (such a person) cursed in the Book Allah, Almighty and Glorious, in three occurrences.”

They are: (Sura AI-Baqarah, No.2, verse 27; Sura Ar-Ra’d, No.13, verse 25; and Sura Muhammad, No.47, verse 22).
