A lot has been written about politically motivated Iftar parties. I, too, don’t like such parties. However, I was terribly impressed by an Iftar party that was held in a temple in “Ayodhya” by the seers of that temple to offer Iftar to Muslim brethren . I had composed this poem a few years earlier but like to repeat it every year in the holy month of Ramadan. Your views on the poem are most welcome.
Jawaid Badauni
Seers host ‘Roza Iftar party’ Seers of this temple town on Saturday hosted a ‘Roza Iftar party’ for their Muslim brethren at the famous Hanumangarhi Temple in a rare gesture of communal amity.
A large number of Muslims from the twin towns of Faizabad and Ayodhya attended the function, in which Mahant Gyan Das of the Hanumangarhi temple and other saints and sadhus were present. Scarfs, with ‘Ram-Rahim’ inscribed on them, were distributed after the function as a gesture of Hindu-Muslim unity and brotherhood.
