Taken from http://www.lankarani.org/eng/tal/tawdhih-al-masael/namaz14.htm
It is Mustahab that after offering the prayers, one should engage oneself in reciting Duas, and reading from the holy Qur’an. It is better that before he leaves his place, and before his Wudhu, or Ghusl or tayammum becomes void, he should recite Duas facing Qibla.
It is not necessary that Duas be recited in Arabic, but it is better to recite those supplications, which have been given in the books of Duas. The tasbih of Hazrat Fatima-tuz-zahra (peace be on her) is one of those acts which have been emphasised. This tasbih should be recited in the following order:
- Allahu Akbar – 34 times
- Alhamdulillah – 33 times
- Subhanallah – 33 times
- Subhanallah can be recited earlier than Alhamdulillah, but it is better to maintain the said order.
It is Mustahab that after the prayers a person performs a Sajdah of thanksgiving, and it will be sufficient if one placed his forehead on the ground with that intention. However, it is better that he should say Shukran lillah or Al’afv 100 times, or three times, or even once. It is also Mustahab that whenever a person is blessed with His bounties, or when the adversities are averted, he should go to Sajdah for Shukr, that is, thanksgiving.
It is Mustahab that whenever a person hears or utters the sacred name of the holy Prophet of Islam like, Muhammad or Ahmad, or his title like, Mustafa or his patronymic appellation like Abul Qasim, he should say, “Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa Ali Muhammad”, even if that happens during the namaz.
It is Mustahab that after writing the sacred name of the holy Prophet, Salawat also be written with it. And it is better that whenever his name is mentioned, Salawat be sent on him.

You can always become a Muslim, first believe in your heart that there is only one God, Allah, only he deserves to be worshipped, and Muhammad s.a.w is His servant and His last messenger. Then read the Quran, in Arabic and with the translation, that you may know the beauty of Allah’s book.
May Allah guide us all to the straight path.

I disagree with the words that saying darood on Mohammad (peace be upon him) when his name is heard as ‘Mustahab”. It is “wajib” once in the same sitting to send darood on him when his name is heard.

now a days muslims are not understanding the words of Allah, they r just repeating them thinking they r doing there job.the job for us is not only to offer our prayers regularly but to understand them, and to apply them in our daily routine.we should also read Quran with translation and tafseer.reading a supara with transltion and understanding it is better then reading the whole Quran without understanding the magical words of ALLAH.

I am very thankful to those people who have launched this website for people to understand what they are reading.
This message is for Mr. Kamran, i would say to you is that you have no right going around cursing people, who do you think you are? It don’y matter what cast you are the bottom line is were all are muslims, what if you was a shia and someone gave you the same compliment what your giving to other people, you call your self a muslim first stop being racist then i would class you as a muslim you have no right judging people over their casts what kind of muslim are you? I am not a shia but i class everyone as a muslim. No one knows at birth what cast is, we all find out later when were old enough to know and when we study about Islam.

It is sadly true that most muslims do not understand what they are saying in their prayers. If they did indeed do so, then most of the ills affecting the Ummah would diminish greatly. You are therefore performing a great service to all muslims by publishing a translation of the prayers. This MUST be done in ALL the languages spoken by muslims throughout the world.

I have read the translation of salaat. It is good. My impression is that the whole text is glorification of God and His messenger. Fine.. What surprised me in the end is that blessings are invoked only for the Prophet and his followers/progeny. Why? Cannot we pray for our friends and enemies who are not Muslims?
In all Hindu prayers, it is invariable to ask for the blessings for ALL irrespective of their faith, creed, belief or disbelief. For the sake of readers, I quote what a Hindu prayer ends with.
” Let all people live in happiness. Let all people live free of illness. Let all see/find auspiciousness. Let no one be subjected to any sorrow. Oh Lord! lead us from darkness unto light, from mortality unto immortality, from untruth to truth, peace, peace, peace”
There is no mention of any specific creed. please reflect and comment.

Thanks Ramchandra for nice comments. This is a translation of namaz not a translation of muslim prayers. In namaz Muslims invoked only for the Prophet and his progeny because they sacrificed their life to save Namaz from hypocrites. Islamic leader Imam ali(a.s) who was progeny of Holy prophet(s.a.w) and also was successor to the Holy Prophet said:Man is either your brother in religion or your brother in humanity”.
The prayer mentioned by you is the same what Muslim also pray and if you will Read holy quran you will find repetion of same prayer many times.
Once more thanks

Thanks Masoom for your quick reply.
If namaz is what you said, that it is invoked for Prophet and his progeny only then what kind of namaz the holy prophet was saying when he was present in this world. Who was he praying for? Please let me know. And please tell me what is muslim prayer? Is it not part of the 5 times namaz? Please enlighten me.
You asked me to read Quran. Good. I think I have read the most accepted translation of the book at least a hundred times. Now if you are interested in discussing what Quran talks about, it is going to be a lengthy discussion. Shall we start on this platform?

Once more thanks Ramchandra for reply. In namaz we praise Allah, Thanks Allah and ask him to keep us on right path and we do this by showing our love to those who sacrificed their time and life in spreading Islam.
After Namaz we request Allah to fulfill our legimate desires and also pray for all the Human beings and peace in this world.
Hol Prophet (s.a.w) also used to pray Allah same namaz by thanking Allah only.
you can write me on my email Id for further discussion.

1)It is Mustahab (a preferable deed) to say the Niyat. It is also permissible to make Niyat in your heart without saying it, that is good enough.
2) Raise both of your hands next to each ears. Touch the lobes of your each ear with thumbs. Then say “Allah Hoo Akbar”
3) Place the hands on navel right hand on top of left hand. Thumb and Pinky (smallest finger) should be wraped around the wrist of left hand’s wrist. It should be like you are locking or grabbing the left hand wrist. Rest of the three fingers of right hand should be strait in line to each other.
4) Now Read, “Subhana Kalla Humma Wa Bee Hamdika Wata Baara Kasmooka Wa Ta’ala Jaddoo Ka Wa La ilaha Ghairuka” Wait a little.
5) Then read, “Aaoo Zoo Billahee Minash Shaitaunir Rajeem” Wait a little.
6) Then read, “Bismillah Hir Rahmaanir Raheem” Wait a little.
7) Then read Soorah Fatiha, “Alhamdo Lillahi Rabbil Aalameen Ar Rahmaanir Raheem Maaliki Yaomid Deen iyya Kana Budoo Wa iyya kanastaeen ihdinas Siratual Mustaqeem Siratual Lazeena An Amtaa Alaihim Ghairil Maghdoobe Alaihim Walad Dualleen” Wait a little.
8) Then say, ” Ameen”. Wait a little.
9) Then read, “Bismillahir Rahamaanir Raheem”. Wait a little.
10) Then read any surrah from Quran or atleast three Ayats. We are writing you a small one. Read this Surrah, ” Wal A’sre Innal Insaana Lafi Khusr illal Lazeena Aamanoo Wa A’milos Sualihaati Wa Tawa Sao Bil Haqqi Wa Tawa Sao Bis Sabr ” Wait a little.
11) Then Say “Allah Hoo Akbar” and bow (its called Ruku), hold your knees with your hands. The fingers should be separated with gaps in them. The back should be horizontally strait in line like a board. (Salat images will be available on Oct 1st 2006, Insha Allah)
12) Recite, “Subhaana Rabbiyal Azeem” At least three times. Three, five and seven times are Sunnat (Sunnat means what Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him liked to do). Wait a little.
13) Then start to stand up saying, “Samee Allahoo Layman Hamidah – Rabbana Lakal Hamd” Start to say Samee when leaving Rookh (bowing poster) and end with Hameedah when you are fully errect. Wait a little.
14) Now say, “Allah Hoo Akbar”
15) Now go to Sajdah (placing face on ground). In sajdah all the fingers of feet should be twisted so that the round soft part of the fingers is touching the ground. Hand fingers should be close to face and facing Kabah in strait line. Put enough pressure on nose so that the bone of nose should feel the hardness of earth (do not hurt your self but should be firm) Arms should be away from body like a bird opens the wings.
16) Now read, “Subhaana Rabbiyal Aala” at least three times. Three, five and seven times are Sunnat. Wait a little.
17) Now sit down on your left foot (It’s called Jalsa) the right foot should be sticking out and all of the foot fingers should be twisted. The soft part of the foot fingers should touch the ground. Sit for the amount of time you could say Subhan Allah at least three times.
18) Now go back to sajadah and perform as you did before Jalsa.
19) After completing second sajdah get up and go back to Qayam (standing up) Saying “Allah Hoo Akbar” Then read , “Bismillahir Rahamaanir Raheem” Wait a little
20) Now again read Soorah Fatiha, “Alhamdo Lillahi Rabbil Aalameen Ar Rahmaanir Raheem Maaliki Yaomid Deen iyya Kana Budo Wa iyyaka Nastaeen ihdinas Sirataul Mustaqeem Siratual Lazeena An Amtaa Alaihim Ghairil Maghdoobe Alaihim Walad Dualeen” Wait a little.

24) This time after second Sajdah do not go back to Qayam (standing up) but go back to Jalsa (sitting) but now it’s called Qaidah.
Now read, “Atthayyato Lillahe Wassalawato Wat Tayyebato Assalamu Alaika Ayyohan Nabiyo Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatoh Assalamu Alaina Wa Ala ibadillahis Sualaiheen Ashadu An La ilaah illal Laho Wa Ashadu Anna Mohammadan Abdohoo Wa Rasooluhoo”
Note: When you reach at Ashadu An La raise your index finger of your right hand upward facing about 45 degrees by closing the fist, and drop it back and spread the hand to its original position at illal Laho.
Wait a little.
25) Now read this Durood Sharif, “Allah Humma Salle Ala Mohammadiyon Wa Ala Ale Mohammadin Kama Sallaita Aala ibraheema Wa Ala Aalay ibraheema inna Ka Hameedum Majeed. Allah Humma Baarik Aala Mohammadiyon Wa Ala Ale Mohammadin Kama Barakta Ala ibraheema Wa Ala Ale ibraheema inna Ka Hameedum Majeed.” Wait a little.
26) Now read this dua, “Allah Humma Rabbana Aatina Fid Dunya Hasanah Wa Fil Akhirate Hasanah Wa Qina Azaban Naar.” Wait a little.
27) Now turn your head towards right and say, “Assalamo Alaikum Wa Rehmatullah”
Now turn your head towards left and read the same as above, “Assalamo Alaikum Wa Rehmatullah”
Salah is complete now.
