Meaning and significance of ‘Ashura and the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a)

alkhoei_moharram_small1.jpg

As salaamo a’laikum,

I found a beautiful collection of few sermons of Martyr Ayatullah Murtada Mutahhari on the captioned topic ..meaning and significance of ‘Ashura and the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a). which people began to tell others as Ashura-Misrepresentations and Distortions.
There are so called shia who misrepresent the sermons of Martyr Ayatullah Murtada Mutahhari and use them to create doubts in the mind of shias of Ali (a) on the topic of ashoora and masaeb e husain.

I would like to ask these so called shia why they do not concentrate on other books of Martyr Ayatullah Murtada Mutahhari and his teacher, Allamah al-Sayyid Muhammad Husayn at-Tabataba’i (1892-1981) who was also a great Scholar. Among his pupils we find a group of such luminaries and thinkers of eminence in their own right as Martyr Murtada Mutahhari, Martyr Beheshti, Hasan Hasanzadeh Amuli and Husayn Nasr.

It is my humble request to all the shia ne ali , not to add their own comments while presenting any sermon of books of any ulema. Scholar, which in majority of cases misguide Muslims and create doubts in their minds.

I also request all those who use these sermons for creating dispute among shia, for insulting shia scholars please do not neglect Books of other scholars on the same topic. For example what was Martyr Murtada Mutahhari’s teacher Allamah al-Sayyid Muhammad Husayn at-Tabataba’i’s (1892-1981)’s view on the same topic? What was Ayatullah Khoie’s opinion? What Ayatullah Khomeini said on the matter of Ashura-Misrepresentations and Distortions and what is the opinion of Ayatollah al-Udhma Sayyid Muhammad Hassan Shirazi, Ayatullah sayyed seestani and other mujtahids?

It is our duty to present a clear picture of the message of any scholar. Creating doubts in the mind of Muslims on the topic of Masaeb e Husain (a.s) by misrepresentation of a scholar’s sermon is very unethical and harmful and also not an act of a sincere Muslim.

I am giving you an example so all of you all can understand how these people misguide by using Mujtahid’s sermons by adding their own comments. A Shia who is not an Islamic scholar or did any research on Islamic history present these sermons of Martyr Ayatullah Murtada Mutahhari and adds comment like this…

“The said presentation enlightens the misrepresentation and distortions made to Karbala Tragedy by professional reciters/speakers and short-sighted writers. The role & duty of public and Scholars/Ulema has also been nicely analysed.”

The question comes if they have developed any wrong impression and started to think that any practice of azadari is wrong or any incident is misquoted or misrepresented then it is their own problem and they have full right to adopt any practice, develop any thoughts or follow any Mujtahid, scholar, which they think is right. But they are not authorised to create dispute among shia ne ali or force any Muslim to obey them or their leader or scholar, or object on activities of scholars or mujtahids who have thousand times better knowledge of Islam than them.

Yes If you have better knowledge of Islam , or you are a research scholar, write a book or article to tell the truth.

But these people who specially make websites to do gheebat (Backbiting) of majority of Shia scholars and Zakirs and insult them because azadari practice is haram in their eyes but gheebat, creating doubts and creating disputes among shia are not haram in their eyes.
for example webs like saazish saazish or group like shiaofahlubait on msn are very busy in creating dispute among shia by using misguided ladies and girls .Some fitna spreading sinners enjoy sitting behind these Girls.

From my side I recommend all the members also to all to read these Books of Ayatullah Murtada Mutahhari..1) Perfect Man by Ayatullah Murtada Mutahhari
2) The Commander of the Faitful: Ali Ibn Abi Talib

3) Polarization Around the Character of ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib by Martyr Murtada Mutahari

There are people who love and praise their own thoughts. For example I know a Shia of same group who developed in his mind that zanjeer matam is haram…so he started to do taqleed of ayatullah khamenai by thinking he prohibited qama zani, and started to declare everywhere it is haram, it gives bad impresssion etc. etc. There is no problem if he is in taqleed of any marja who prohibited qama zani in any condition and follow him but how can he force others by neglecting fatwa of so many other mujtahids?

He has the right to convey any general fatwa of his mujtahid on any issue but he do not have any right to dispute with the followers who follow any other mujtahids or force others to follow fatwa e khaas (with personal conditions).

………One day I saw the same person sending message that ayatullah lankarni also said it is prohibited. That day I asked: Brother why you search only those mujtahids which suits to you own thoughts, like and dislike only? It means you do taqleed of your own mind, likes and dislikes.

And it is very common in our young generation that if they want to listen music they start to search mujtahid which allow to listen some kind of music (conditional 1%). and also start to misrepresent fatwa of mujtahids only to declare music is lawful. They forget if they are authorised to do this work or not If they want to chat on net with na mahram (people of opposite sex) then also they ask fatwa from mujtahids like this.. we chat on religious matters, educational etc and after getting conditional fatwa start to misguide others that chatting with na mahram is allowed.

Here they never think what was the practices of aimma (Imams a.s) on the matter of talking with na mahram or if our aimma (a.s) used to listen musical drama and songs. But when the matter of tazia, taboot, alam comes they start to say this was not a practice of aimma (a.s) it is a tradition etc etc…

The Necessity Of Fighting Hypocrisy by Martyr Murtada Mutahhari

The most difficult struggle is the one against hypocrisy, for it is the struggle against the cunning who use the stupid as their weapon. This fight is several degrees more difficult than the fight with unbelief, because, in the battle with unbelief, the struggle is against an unconcealed, open and unhidden current, while the struggle against hypocrisy is in fact a struggle against concealed unbelief. Hypocrisy has two faces: one is the outward, face – Islam and Muslim; the other inward – unbelief and evil. It is very difficult for the ordinary people to spot this latter aspect, and sometimes impossible; and thus the struggle with hypocrisy ends in failure because the great majority of people cannot extend the reach of their perception beyond outward forms and the hidden does not become apparent. They do not have a long enough range to penetrate the depths of the inward nature of things.
Amir al-mu’ minin (as) wrote in the letter he sent to Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr
The Messenger of Allah said to me: “I do not fear for my community from the believer or the unbeliever. As the believer, Allah will protect him because of his belief, and, as for the unbeliever, Allah will humiliate him because of his unbelief. But I fear about everyone of you who is a hypocrite in his heart and learned in speech. He speaks what you can accept, but he does what you cannot accept. [22]
The Prophet here points out the danger in hypocrisy and the hypocrite, because the majority of people are uninformed and unaware, and are taken in by outward appearances. [23]
Care must be taken over the fact that with every bit that stupidity increases, the way opens further for hypocrisy. The struggle with the stupid and stupidity is the struggle with hypocrisy too, for the stupid are the tool in the hands of the hypocrites. Naturally, the struggle with the foolish and with foolishness is to disarm the hypocrites, and take the sword out of their hands.

[23]. Thus we see throughout the history of Islam that every time a reformer arises on behalf of the people to reform the state of their society and religion, and the interests of the unjust and the profiteers are endangered, these latter immediately don the disguise of sanctity, and display their piety and religion.

Note: Very soon I will publish a list of those ignorants who made practice of adding their own comments of mujtahids Fatwa and sermons only for their personal gains. Some for popularity just to sell Islamic materials and some for showoff and making money by collecting from Shia.

I will tell all of you how they make money by creating disputes among Shia and for this how they misguide and hire young ignorant Shia for this. All about their network and how they work? For today I just say you will not find any scholar in their group. You will find they are music lovers, love to chat with girls late night and target Shia practice and traditions.

Do you know what Ayatullah Khoei used to say on some practice of azadarii?

”Most probably Allah Almighty would give thawab – reward (the individual) – for sympathising with the Ahl-ul-Bayt if the intention is sincere.

I end here with a famous hadith….

“There will come a time upon people (Muslims) when:

They will not respect their scholars except for their good clothing; they will not listen to the Holy Quran except for the pleasant voice; and they will not worship Allah except during the month of Ramadan.

There will be no modesty (sense of shame) in their women; no patience in their poor people; and no generosity in their rich people.

They will not be contented with little; nor satiated with abundance; they will strive (only) for their stomach; their religion will be their dirhams (money); their women will become direction of their worship; their homes will become their mosques; and they will run away from their scholars just as lambs run away from wolves.

When all these happen, Allah will afflict them with three conditions:

Blessings will be lifted from their wealth; they will be dominated by cruel leaders; and they will leave the world (die) without Imaan (faith & belief)”. (Waqa-iyul Ayyaam)

Thus we see throughout the history of Islam that every time a reformer arises on behalf of the people to reform the state of their society and religion, and the interests of the unjust and the profiteers are endangered, these latter immediately don the disguise of sanctity, and display their piety and religion.
When al-Ma’mun ar-Rashid, the `Abassid Caliph famous in the history of rulers for his epicurianism and extravagance, saw that the `Alawis were on the ascendence, he put on a change of clothing and showed himself in public in a new light. Then Abu Hanifah al-Iskafi, who neither took a penny from him, nor benefited from him, praised him for this and composed the following panegyric:
O Ma’mun, the like of whom among the rulers of the State of Islam
Has never been seen, by Arab or by simple peasant,
Wore a coat of fur for so long
That it became old, worn and tatty.
His close companions were amazed at this excess
And asked him for the reason for this.
He said: “Tales are left behind by kings
Among the Arabs and the non-Arabs, not by fine cotton and linen! “

And so on, each in his way excelling in the well-tried and oppressive politics of “holding the Qur’an up on spears”, and defeating all effort and self-sacrifice, nipping each new resurgence in the bud. This is nothing but the ignorance and unknowing of people, which does not know how to distinguish between slogans and reality, thus closing the way of resurgence and reformation to themselves, and then realising that all the preparatory work has been cancelled out and that they must start at the beginning again.
Of all the great points we learn from the life of ‘Ali, we see that this kind of struggle is not confined to any special group, but that everywhere that a group of Muslims, or those who are got up in the garb of religion, become a tool for the advance of non-Muslims and the progress of colonialism, and the colonialists, for the protection of their own interests, give them cover, and then use them as their shield, so that it becomes impossible to fight them without doing away with the shields, then it is necessary to begin by fighting with these shields and destroying them so as to remove the obstacle in the way and be able to attack at the heart of the enemy. Perhaps the machinations of Mu’awiyah had something to do with the Khawarij’s sabotage, and therefore even on that day Mu’awiyah, or at least people like al-Ash’ath ibn al-Qays, and other elements in the sabotage and disturbances, gave cover to the Khawarij.
The history of the Khawarij teaches us the fact that in every resurgence the “shields” must first be got rid of and the fools fought with, just as ‘Ali, after the events of the arbitration, first of all attacked the Khawarij and then intended to follow upon the tracks of Mu’awiyah.

  1. salams..

    Be clear about Murtaza mutahhari…
Other than the book “Ashura and the martyrdom of Imam Husayn(as)” he has written another book named “Hamsa-e-Husaini” which is full of blunders… Inshallah i will try to put some matter from that book.

    wassalam
