Moinuddin Chisti was referring of course to Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w)
“Shah ast Hussain , Baadshah ast Hussain
Deen ast Hussain, Deen panah ast Hussain
Sar dad no daad dast dar dast-e-Yezid
Haq ke bena la -ila ast Hussain .”
Loosely translated , the couplet would mean:
‘ A rular is Hussain , an emperor is Hussain.
Faith is Husain , guardian of faith is Hussain .
He offered his head and not the hand to Yezid.
Truly, Allal’s true mirror of faith is Hussain ‘.
Sar dad no daad dast dar dast-e-Yezid
Haq ke bena la -ila ast Hussain .”
